The period of baby boomers is coming to an end. The peak time of 50s when these parents allowed their children to move out and live their own lives saw several families splitting up leaving their parents to fend for themselves. It was not a problem then as the parents were young. But the era is coming to end with most of the baby boomers reaching old age where they need personal care. Their children are now considering making adjustments to their homes so that they can protect their parents while allowing them to live with them during their final years.

Taking into account the old bones and less energy of your parents, offer them a room on the ground floor. In case this is not possible, check out if you can incorporate any kind of small lift for easy movements of the elders. One of the most dangerous places that can hurt the elders is the bathroom. Offer them their own bathrooms equipped with things that prevent slipping etc. Finally, give them their own space. This means some of the basic equipment that is meant solely for them, for instance, a TV, Refrigerator, and other things so that there are no clashes and both your family as well as your parents lives peacefully.
